The Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA), with a 30-year production potential gas in water depths of up to 2850m on the maritime border between Mauritania and Senegal is being developed by British Petroleum and its partners.
The location of the GTA project
The GTA project will produce gas from an ultra-deep-water subsea system and mid-water floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. After being processed, the gas will then be transferred to the floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility, a nearshore hub that is under construction by CIMC Raffles in Shangdong, China.
BP's GTA Hub
The hub is of four spud legs that can elevate the platform out of the surface of the sea by using a jacking system. GUSTO MSC, a pioneer of offshore engineering, is undertaking the jacking system for the hub. Royal Van der Leun, as a long-term electrical engineering partner of GUSTO MSC, designed the jacking control system, which is a partial system of it and completed the commissioning of the project in February of 2022.
The Monitoring Screen of Spud Legs
Royal Van der Leun accumulates great experience in the designing and implementation of jacking control systems throughout our 100 years of electrical engineering development. We are proud to be participating in the immense GTA project and look forward to witnessing the first gas extraction in 2022.
