About The Ocean Cleanup

The Ocean Cleanup is a non-profit organization and was founded by Boyan Slat in 2013, a Dutch inventor and entrepreneur. He and his foundation aim to tackle those 1000 most polluting rivers all over the world in 5 years from rollout.  

The Interceptor is The Ocean Cleanup’s powerful answer for river plastic waste. It is the first scalable solution to prevent plastic from entering the world’s oceans from rivers. It is 100% solar-powered, extracts plastic autonomously, and is capable of operating in the majority of the world’s most polluting rivers.
