The Royal IHC, designed and built of an integrated 550t real lay system for Shanghai Salvage Bureau in the year of 2018. It is the first reel lay system in China and moreover, also one of the largest and sophisticated reel lay systems in the world.

In November, 2019, the Royal IHC reached a big milestone with the completion of Phase 1 of 550t real lay system installation in Penglai, Shandong Province. Then, the lay tower and rigid pipe reel, the carousel for flexible pipe storage, the A&R winches etc. other underdeck equipment were transported to QWHI Shipyard in Qingdao, Shandong by Yuan Jing, the transport vessel to be installed on the vessel of Shanghai Salvage Bureau.

The project was put on hold for more than one year after the transportation, mainly because of the Covid 19 pandemic. Fortunately, since August of 2022, it has restarted. All the equipment related to the system started to be installed on the vessel.

Royal Van der Leun China sent a team of over 20 electricians to continue the on-site jobs and the team is as of May 2023, has now returned. The installation of this prestigious project took us nearly 9 months! The Royal IHC’s commissioning team has started to do the commissioning job which might take one year according to their estimation. We are very proud of being one of the marine electrical engineering partners on this super project and participated in the World's best project!
