Royal Van der Leun (China) is building Motor Control Centers (MCC’s) for the Wärtsilä cargo control systems.
The MCC's will be installed on LPG vessels up to 93,000 CBM. In March of this year, the coronavirus pandemic outbroke in Shanghai. Even Shanghai has negotiated the big crisis, the restrict travelling limitations are preventing people travel freely to other cities. Under such circumstance, the MCC’s have produced and ushered the factory acceptance test (FAT). Due to the travelling limitations, the ship surveyor from DNV could not travel to our workshop in Suzhou as before. Therefore, we organized a romote FAT via a remote meeting software on June 16, 2022 which was very successful and our products also passed the FAT with good performance.
The vessels adopt the fourth-generation patented line type, Panda 93P, which is independently developed and designed by Jiangnan Shipyard, a unit of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC). Petredec, Oriental, Jovo and Pearl will be their owners.
These vessels are said to be the world’s largest VLGC’s powered by liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) when completed. The new generation of VLGC’s marks an important step for all of the four owners and the industry towards decarbonization by emitting 30% less CO2 than the previous generation 84,000 CBM ships burning LSFO. Royal Van der Leun is proud of being part of the evolution.
